After exporting cars through another small company located near Osaka for 6 years, I decided to branch out and create my own company, VK Drive, in 2020. We moved to Shiga prefecture and worked from there.
We are located in Higashiomi. -
While I mainly sell cars I choose and get in stock, I can also, in some cases, take custom orders…
Because I am not an auction agent who just bids on cars and sends them to the port, I do not/cannot work on fixed margins like most of these agents, but rather with a budget that we set for each model and the difficulty.
To give you a rough idea though, I end up charging around US$1500 on cheaper cars and around 10% on more expensive ones. It is clearly more expensive than agents you’ll find online, but the service isn’t the same either.
For custom orders I do require a US$1000 deposit for cars up to US$10000 or a US$2000 deposit for cars that are more expensive. Deposit goes toward the purchase of the vehicle. As long as I haven’t yet traveled around to inspect cars for you, the deposit is fully refundable. Once I have, it is not. -
All cars in stock have “landed” prices on the website. That means the price includes Ro-Ro shipping to the closest port but it doesn’t include expenses like import taxes, arrival port’s fees…etc etc.
The difference in price between ports around the world is small enough that doing like this simplifies my work and avoids answering dozens of emails weekly asking for shipping costs to each and every country.
If you prefer container shipping, I can arrange that, but please reach out to me directly as this is more expensive and I need to ask for a more precise quote. -
Payment is done through international bank transfer only. Deposits can be done through Paypal.
For custom orders, payment has to be done within 24h from the moment you’ve received the invoice. Delays will be subject to extra fees, which can go all the way up to your car being sent back to auction and the deposit being kept.
I am more lenient with cars purchased from stock I already have, so if you need time to pay for one of those, let’s just talk about it.
Being in Japan, I cannot finance cars. -
Yes! Most of the basic stuff has been/will be performed for free… if you want simple upgrades installed, I would also do it at no extra costs (new steering wheel, upgraded brake pads…etc etc), you’d just pay for the parts…
For more extensive mods, anything can be done, just contact me and we can talk about it. -
This will be a case by case thing…
Anything is possible, but if the car you have isn’t registered, re-registering so that you can rent it is quite expensive…
If it is still registered, there will also be extra costs that we can discuss.
On the other hand, if you come to Japan and just want to drive it around the block with me, this is possible with any car you have bought. -
I own way too many cars… Offering some of them for rental allows me to justify the hoarding a little!
There are two categories of cars:
Those offered for track/rally use only and the ones you can actually rent to drive places. Track cars will be brought to the track by us and we will meet either at the track or at VK Drive. All regular and track days rentals require a 100.000yen deposit, 200.000yen deposit for door to door races and 400.000yen deposit for actual rally weekends.
Keep in mind rally weekends require a much heavier organization and time ahead of the rally to get you licensed and registered.
Rental includes whatever set of tires is available…
It'll have a used set of track tires and not as performant as a new set of tires. The purchase of brand new tires is possible and will have to be planned in advance.. Cars are offered with a full tank of gas included in the price. The cost of registration at the track is not included in the prices you will be quoted. As an example, a full regular day on Motorland Suzuka costs around 25.000yen but can be cheaper on some “special days” like Fridays. Tracks like Suzuka Twin, Central Circuit and similar are more expensive. Rentals that include a door-to-door race are also priced differently.
10% consumption to be added.
